- Matcha Latte + Breakfast in One Save time on busy mornings by getting your caffeine fix along with a boost of fiber and protein!
What Are The Benefits of Matcha Green Tea?
From a nutrition perspective, matcha's claim to fame comes from its high antioxidant potential. Specifically, matcha is known to contain high concentrations of phenolic acids, quercetin, rutin, theanine and chlorophyll, exceeding those in other green tea varieties.
Tips for Picking a Good Matcha Powder for Overnight Oats
- The only ingredient should be matcha, without anything else added.
- A high-quality matcha powder will be bright green in color.
- This might be obvious but use a matcha powder that you enjoy making an iced matcha drink with. The goal with this Matcha Overnight Oats recipe is for it to have the same earthy taste you appreciate from a simple iced matcha latte.
Ingredient Notes

- Matcha Use unsweetened matcha green tea powder. The harvest (first, second, third, or fourth) doesn't really matter as much with this recipe since the matcha will be mixed with other ingredients.
- Oats Good source of protein and fiber. Use rolled oats, also known as old fashioned oats. Don't use steel cut or quick oats when making overnight oats.
- Milk Excellent source of protein and calcium. I like to use 2% milk, but any kind of milk will work just fine.
- Chia Seeds Great source of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids. I really wanted the matcha latte (matcha and milk) to stand out, so this recipe calls for fewer chia seeds than usual.
- Honey Just enough to make this sweet but not too sweet.
How to Make Matcha Overnight Oats

- Use a fine mesh strainer to sift the matcha powder into a glass jar.
- Stir matcha powder in with warm water.
- Add the rest of the ingredients to the matcha slurry.
- Stir well and cover with an airtight lid. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
Expert Tips
- I created this recipe to be milkier than most overnight oats recipe, to give it more of a matcha latte vibe.
- To make these overnight oats less milky add more chia seeds or stir in Greek yogurt just before serving.
- If you're new to matcha, stir in some vanilla flavored Greek yogurt just before serving so the matcha flavor is more subtle. Greek yogurt will also add protein.
- Top matcha overnight oats with sliced fruit to help balance out the flavor. This will also add variety to your breakfast.
