- Frozen Mango Frozen mango chunks add sweetness and give this smoothie a creamy texture. Mango provides over 20 different vitamins and minerals, including fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin A. Mangos are also known for their anti-inflammatory properties.
- Frozen Pineapple This is what gives this smoothie a taste of the tropics. Aside from fiber and various vitamins, pineapple contains a group of enzymes called bromelain, which may help with tissue healing and aid digestion.
- Kefir I use vanilla flavored kefir. Kefir contains protein and probiotics. I tried making this with plain kefir, but it wasn't quite sweet enough for my kids.
- Milk I use 2 percent milk. Good source of high-quality protein, calcium, and vitamin D.

- Vanilla kefir can be replaced with plain kefir and two teaspoons of honey or a splash of orange juice for a touch of sweetness.
- This is a fruit smoothie without yogurt. Kefir has similar properties to yogurt (made from dairy, contain probiotics, good source of protein), but the consistency and taste are different.
- If you don't have kefir, use more milk and either two teaspoons of honey or add more frozen pineapple. It won't be quite as creamy without kefir or more frozen fruit, but it should still taste tropical.
- If you have more ripe mango than you can eat, cut it into chunks and freeze it in a resealable freezer bag so you have it handy to toss into smoothies. Frozen ripe mango adds incredible flavor and creaminess to smoothies!

Both milk and kefir are dairy products. To make this dairy free, I would suggest using coconut milk or a combination of coconut milk and another non-dairy milk in place of the milk and kefir.
Frozen mango really adds to the creamy consistency of this smoothie. So, if I had to pick one fresh fruit to use in place of frozen, it would be pineapple.
If you have time, cut fresh mango and a good juicy pineapple into chunks and freeze it for at least an hour before adding it to smoothies. Otherwise, use fresh fruit and add a few ice cubes.

Mango Pineapple Fruit Smoothie Recipe
Equipment
- 1 Blender
Ingredients
- 1 cup Mango, frozen frozen chunks of mango
- 1 cup Pineapple, frozen Frozen pineapple tidbits
- 1 cup Milk I use skim milk
- 1 cup Vanilla or plain Kefir Vanilla kefir will make a sweeter smoothie.
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a blender.1 cup Mango, frozen, 1 cup Pineapple, frozen, 1 cup Milk, 1 cup Vanilla or plain Kefir
- Start blending at a low to medium-low speed to break up some of the frozen fruit. Then, gradually increase the blending speed to high.
- Blend until a desired consistency is reached. I use my Vitamix and this smoothie blends in one minute at the most.
Notes
- If you don't have kefir, use more milk or a combination of milk and yogurt in place of the kefir.
- If you use plain kefir, taste the smoothie before serving it. You may want to add two teaspoons of honey to make it sweet enough.
- To make this a green mango-pineapple smoothie, add blend in a handful of baby spinach.
- I do recommend using frozen mango instead of fresh mango to give this smoothie a creamy consistency. If you only have fresh mango and don't have time to freeze it, add a few ice cubes before blending.
