Instructions
Slice the apple in half or in quarters (for more traditional shaped apple slices).
1 apple
Use a mandolin to slice an apple into very thin uniform slices. I set my slicer to the #2 setting which slices the apple in 2.5 mm slices.
Coat your air fryer basket with a high heat oil, like avocado oil.
Lay the apple slices in a single layer on the air fryer basket fit for your air fryer. Some overlap is okay.
Optional: Sprinkle some of the apple slices with cinnamon.
Air fry at 325° for 6 minutes or until the desired consistency is reached.
Notes
Use sweet apples to make this recipe.
Using a mandolin is key for slicing apples thin enough. I set my mandolin at the number 2 setting (2.5mm).
Optional: sprinkle a small amount of cinnamon or a little bit of a cinnamon and sugar mixture on the apple slices before placing them in the air fryer.
If your air fryer is preheated, these apple slices may cook in 4-5 minutes.
Slight overlap of the apple slices is okay. Slices that overlap will stick together (which make them easier to eat, in my opinion:).
The thicker the apple slices, the longer they will take to cook.
If it turns out that your kids prefer the texture of an actual apple chip, air fry for an additional 2 minutes.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for how to properly and safely use your air fryer.
