Air fried apple slices make the perfect after school snack and are ready in just 6 minutes! The texture (soft with a touch of crunch) combined with the natural sweetness of the apple will have your kids asking for more!
Remove the stem and core of the apple before slicing or slice the apple while whole, being sure to discard the stem and core of the apple.
Use a mandolin to slice an apple into very thin uniform slices. I set my slicer to the #2 setting which slices the apple in 2.5 mm slices.
Coat your air fryer basket with a high heat oil, like avocado oil.
Lay the apple slices in a single layer on the air fryer basket fit for your air fryer.
Air fry at 325° for 6 minutes or until the desired consistency is reached.
Notes
There is no need to preheat the air fryer for this recipe, at least if you are using the Cuisinart Digital Air Fryer Toaster Oven.
Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for how to properly and safely use your air fryer.
Slight overlap of the apple slices is okay. Just know that the slices that overlap will stick together.
The thicker the apple slices, the longer they will take to cook.
If it turns out that your kids prefer the texture of an actual apple chip, simply put these back in the air fryer for an additional 2 minutes or until they reach your desired consistency.
Never use aerosol spray cans in your air fryer.
It’s best to use a good quality oil mister or simply use a silicone basting brush to brush oil on to the air fryer basket to prevent food from sticking.
